Ebook About
The only thing in Colin Mulligan’s life that makes sense is taking cars apart and putting them back together. In the auto shop where he works with his father and brothers, he tries to get through the day without having a panic attack or flying into a rage. Drinking helps. So does running and lifting weights until he can hardly stand. But none of it can change the fact that he’s gay, a secret he has kept from everyone.  Rafael Guerrera has found ways to live with the past he’s ashamed of. He’s dedicated his life to social justice work and to helping youth who, like him, had very little growing up. He has no time for love. Hell, he barely has time for himself. Somehow, everything about miserable, self-destructive Colin cries out to him. But down that path lie the troubles Rafe has worked so hard to leave behind. And as their relationship intensifies, Rafe and Colin are forced to dredge up secrets that both men would prefer stay buried.Out of Nowhere is the second book in an emotional M/M romance series! In the Middle of SomewhereOut of NowhereWhere We Left OffIt is followed by the spinoff SMALL CHANGE series, which contains M/F and M/M romance.Small ChangeInvitation to the BluesWhat readers are saying:“Redeeming a villain isn’t always easy, but Parrish does a great job with that here. Book Out of Nowhere (Middle of Somewhere #2) Review :

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and was excited to see that Colin was going to be the focus of book two. I ended up with very mixed feelings--mild SPOILERS ahead.I thought it was a great character driven story, and Philly really came to life. Colin's struggles were real, but a lot of things I felt were important seemed to happen off-screen. For example, as someone whose first sexual experience with a man was coerced (rape, though Colin does not view it as such), he very quickly got over his fear of anal sex. I thought his transition from freezing in fear to loving the feeling was too quick, with not enough internal explanation to bring me along with him.Similarly, the author references months of relationship struggles and development in a few paragraphs at once point. Why cant we see this on the page? This kind of healthy relationship growth is just as important to show Colin's character development as his struggle with coming out, but it was given no page time. I felt cheated out of seeing these important moments, only hearing about them after the fact. However, my biggest hesitation with the story is that Colin is presented as having depression so severe he contemplates and has attempted suicide in the past, he cuts, he has panic attacks, he is obsessive about cleaning his living space. And none of this is ever addressed beyond Rafe being concerned and then magically love overcomes all and he no longer has these issues. These are serious mental health issues, and they dont magically go away because someone is now in a great relationship. I would have liked to see Colin getting therapy, or at least acknowleding that these problems existed instead of acting like they were just regular issues to overcome like coming out or learning how to manage stress.Despite these hesitations, I still enjoyed the story. The writing was strong, the characters were interesting, and I enjoyed spending time with them. I will continue to keep an eye out for new work from this author.
Wow! This story has blown me completely away! I liked it 10 times more than the first book in the series, that held its own, don’t get me wrong. Out of Nowhere is a piece of art, a creation from the mind of the author that gives me pauze; Roan Parrish throws her hooks in the reader and does not unhook until the very end... . I had to re-listen to the last two chapters like 4 times because it was the middle of the night, And I could not ‘put the book down’. Roan Parrish portrayed MC Colin’s struggle with his orientation and the way it impacted his life and that of his loved ones, gives the reader a good insight in the way in which social and cultural rules can destroy a human life that does not ‘fit’ the pattern. The story also touched upon the way that same society is ruthless where it concerns treatment of ex-prisoners, making it clear that re-socialization isn’t something that takes place; the individual is on his own. The story showed that Rafe the ex-prisoner needed Collin the closeted ‘not-gay’ man, as much as Colin needed Rafe to be there for him in hard times, going as far as a suicide attempt. Only when Collin started to liberate himself from the self-imposed prison, did he start to live, one step at a time, with Rafe by his side. I’m a sucker for a HEA. This book has well-developed characters, dialogue with sustenance, a consistent story-line with dept. And now, the other side of this successful endeavor: the person who made listening to the audiobook an emotional rollercoaster: the narrator Spencer Goss. What a voice! He has all the characters down pat and he infuses emotion in the narration; he had me getting emotional and tearing up throughout the book! Wow! Thank youRoan Parrish and Spencer Goss, for this beautiful heartfelt story. ❤️
